DEBATES
Debate is a platform where opposite ideas about a subject are supported and discussed by the teams. The subject of this debate can be anything but it should be a current social or political issue. Debate is used as a method of education in different lessons in Çakabey Private Schools. Students take part in debates which are organized and supervised by the Social Sciences dept. and Turkish Teachers. Debates offer students the chance to develop themselves by expressing themselves, empathizing, thinking analytically, solving problems, conciliating, making a speech to an audience, and convincing other people of the validity of their ideas. Debate is actually considered a leadership lesson. Debate is also important for students as it encourages them to follow developments in both Turkey and the world by having them research and improve their ideas about these subjects. In addition, the Foreign Languages Department organizes debates in three languages which give students the opportunity to use and improve their knowledge of, and skills in, these languages. In the Debate Club at High School level, students work with private educators on weekdays and weekends and they participate in a Debate League organized by the Turkish Private Schools Association.
